This year we are so honored to have SEVEN more women hit a huge milestone! They celebrate their 10 year anniversary at Dragonfly this year!

We'll be introducing them all to you and getting their perspective because we, of course, think they are amazing!

Next up is Geri! Geri is amazingly consistent. She also works hard while having fun, is a great classmate and is fun to coach!

Here's more about Geri:

I like haikus, so I’ll start with a haiku:

Strong body, strong mind

Healthy habits, friends, laughter

Dragonfly Fitness

The year I joined Dragonfly was the year I decided to train for a 5K and then a 10K. It was during preparation for the 10K that I began to experience knee issues. After talking to my sister (a physical therapist) about my knee pain she told me I need to be incorporating strength training alongside my running regimen. This advice led me to discover Dragonfly.

At that time, I had limited experience with group workouts or strength training outside of yoga, which made my initial class somewhat intimidating – my inner dialog kept asking, what am I doing? I’m not strong. But I showed up and I kept showing up because what I found was an exceptionally welcoming and supportive community with coaches that know when you need to pick up heavier weights and encouragement from everyone there. I have often said to my husband, when I head out for a class, that I’m off to hang out with my friends.

Another reason why training at Dragonfly is currently a huge part of my schedule is that I have hit the menopause stage of my life and I know the best thing I can do for my body in this stage is strength training.

The one thing I was not expecting from strength training was the amount of confidence it has given me across various aspects of my life. I have a much stronger mindset when I am up against adversity.
