November Member of the Month

Congratulations to November Member of the Month, Stacey!

Stacey was nominated by Coach Missy. Coach Missy says, "Not only has Stacey been putting in the work at the gym, but she brings a great attitude to class as well. She is consistent in her training, form focused, and is fun to coach. She worked hard on improving her rowing and recently dropped 12 seconds off of her 500M time. Love to see that hard work pay off, way to go Stacey!"

Here's a little more about Stacey...

What separates your experience at Dragonfly from other things you've tried in the past? The supportive community that has been formed by the coaches and Dragonfly members. It is such a safe environment to work out, challenge yourself, take risks, and try new movements or higher weights. It's great to be supported, encouraged, challenged, and cheered for while you are working out. And, I love the different ways we can give back. I love animals, so I have enjoyed all of the opportunities to support CARE STL.

What motivates you to be consistent with your training? My health is my greatest motivator. Due to a thyroid issue I gained a lot of weight in a short period of time years ago. Strength training is what I found that helped me lose weight, keep it off, and something that I truly enjoyed. It just worked for me and I always feel better mentally and physically after a workout at Dragonfly! So, it is not hard to stay consistent with something that makes me feel better. What is something that used to be intimidating at the gym, but now you love it and/or how might you encourage others that might be nervous? Challenging myself to move up and try heavier weights for different movements was (and still can be) intimidating to me. But, at the encouragement of coaches or other members, I will try the heavier weight and I am always surprised at what I can do. Sometimes I stay at that heavier weight like with the prowler push, and sometimes I am proud that I tried and go back to using the weight I was at like with the pause presses. So, I encourage others to believe in themselves and to just try, because you might be surprised with what you can do! And, it is so nice to try in a room full of support!

Thanks, Stacey for being such an awesome member and an inspiration!

Each month Dragonfly coaches nominate members who are standing out, overcoming obstacles, and giving it their all. It’s always a hard choice to decide upon one!
