December Member of the Month

Congratulations to December Member of the Month, Laura!

Laura was nominated by Coach Renah for her consistency, determination and positive attitude! Coach Renah says that Laura has really been working hard in classes...upping her weight and trying the next progressions on so many movements! She's got this very determined kinda vibe going on and we like it! Laura may not know how strong she really is, but I have a feeling she's definitely going to find out!

Keep it up Laura! We're really proud of you!

Here's a little more about Laura...

What brought you to Dragonfly? I have always enjoyed strength training. It started many years ago in high school when I took "weight lifting" for a gym credit. I was a competitive tap dancer and played club volleyball so lifting weights was not just a way to challenge myself, but to elevate my performance in both activities.

Prior to joining Dragonfly, I was at a small strength training gym that operated much in the same way as DF- 8 week cycles with a 1a/b, 2a/b/c, and finisher type-model. The extra that DF has is full support from the coaches and other trainees. DF kind of feels like a group effort- awesome women lifting (pun intended) each other up, encouraging each other to become stronger, and to be the best physical versions of ourselves.

What motivates you to be consistent with your training? Above is also what motivates me. Getting stronger and seeing everyone else get stronger is what keeps me going. Going up to the next kettlebell or adding extra reps or weight to a deadlift or back squat feels so great- mentally and emotionally, and eventually physically!

Also, I've worked with the geriatric population for over 20 years. I've glimpsed into the future!  We're only given one body and I know I want mine to be strong.

Share with us something that you are proud of from the past few weeks, months, or this year. I am proud to finally (!!) make it to the barbell bench press! And, being nominated as Member of the Month. As a quiet person who tends to keep to themselves, it was quite a shock and definitely an honor. Thank you so much!

Thanks for being such an awesome member and an inspiration Laura!

Each month Dragonfly coaches nominate members who are standing out, overcoming obstacles, and giving it their all. It’s always a hard choice to decide upon one!
